The task of publishing V.I.S.A.’s semester newsletter, creating our promotional material and updating and maintaining our website falls to the V.I.S.A. Publications team. These responsibilities keep the Publications team busy throughout the year! The magnitude of these responsibilities means that no one task can be deemed the main duty of the Publications team.
Our semester newsletter, “V.I.S.A. Ink” is published every semester on the day of the final V.I.S.A. meeting of the semester. This day incidentally happens to be when V.I.S.A. holds its annual potluck, where we celebrate our achievements in the past semester. The V.I.S.A. Ink carries articles from students, staff and faculty and information and student experiences from our semester events. The newsletter is published with the generous sponsorships provided by firms and organizations on-campus as well as off-campus. Samples of our past newsletters can be found on the archives section.
When the task of promoting a V.I.S.A. event such as a fundraiser, or publicizing a training workshop is taking place the Publications team is at the forefront of it. We create posters, flyers and tickets for events in support of the Events team. You can check out our work in the archives section of our website.
The task of maintaining, updating and creating new sections for the website falls under the Publications team. We work in conjunction with the rest of the V.I.S.A. Executive team to make sure our website is up-to-date with the latest information for volunteers, students, staff and our partners. This is something new to the Publications team’s duties, only becoming part of our tasks this year in 2009.
If you’ve read about what we do, you may be interested in working with us. If you are, the Publications team would be more than happy to tell you how you can help out. If you are interested in writing, poetry, graphic and web design, the Publications team are the ones you need to get in touch with. You can find our names and contact details at the end of the page, so be sure to write to us. We are looking forward to working with you in the future.
