The Volunteer International Students Assistance provides many opportunities in volunteering for students. At the same time, we also strive to provide students with necessary skills and technical training to succeed in the University of Windsor, and carry those skills to the “real” world as well. Therefore, one of V.I.S.A.’s mandates is to give students affordable and practical training to develop technical and personal skills for development of their career.
The task of conducting these training and skill development exercises falls within the purview of the Training & Operations team of the V.I.S.A. Executive Committee. Every semester, we organize and carry out training programs in computer skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs.
We have worked together in the past with on-campus organization such as the Education Development Centre, and off-campus organizations such as United Way to conduct training sessions and workshops for personal skill development areas such as volunteer and diversity training.
Furthermore, the Training and Operations team also coordinates with the rest of the Executive team to collect, collate and publish accurate figures of V.I.S.A.’s volunteer hours and points awarded to volunteers. These hours and points help determine the recipients for awards of recognition at the end of each semester.
