The reception date is Friday, October 20, 5-8 p.m.
The theme of the exhibition is how traditional studies are applied to highly-polished works. For example, a completed piece that contains very detailed hands is accompanied by a close study of hands and feet with a sketchbook nearby of preliminary work for the piece. This is to explore the de-mystification of art. Viewers are exposed to the completed work in all its glory while having access to the mistakes, re-workings, and practice-sketches. This also shows how I have applied my knowledge of art and how far I have come as an artist during my time at the university.
The title applies to the theme in a few ways: looking back on the foundations of my art from first year to fourth year, placing emphasis on the entire process of art (not just the finished product), and the incorporation of mostly traditional media.
