Women's and Gender Studies TA Positions
PROJECTED TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS FALL 2019
September 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019
In accordance with Article 12:01 of the CUPE Collective Agreement, Women’s and Gender Studies invites applications for TA positions as outlined below. The total funds for Teaching Assistantships allocated to Women’s and Gender Studies for Fall 2019 is projected to be $27,729.00. All positions are subject to sufficient enrolment and final budgetary approval.
COURSES IN WOMEN’S AND GENDER STUDIES
WGST/WORK-2400-01: Work and Equality
Course Time: Tuesdays 8:30-11:20am
1 TA position x 80 hours
September 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019
Expected TA duties include, but are not limited to: leading in-class/online discussion, grading of handwritten material, proctoring and answering student queries. TAs hired for first-year courses must proctor departmental-wide make-up midterm and final exam dates (dates to be assigned no later than October 31, 2019).
TA appointments shall be offered to qualified applicants in accordance with the criteria specified in Article 12:04 of the Collective Agreement. To be eligible for a Teaching Assistantship:
you must be registered for the term of work at the time of hiring,
you must maintain registration throughout the term and must be in good standing in the degree program,
you cannot be employed as a TA for more than 100 total hours per term (September 1 to December 31, 2019). If you already hold or have applied for another TA position (in this or another department), note that the total combined hours for all TA appointments held in all departments cannot exceed 100 hours total for the period September 1 to December 31, 2019.
Required Essential Qualifications:
- Applicant must have taken a course in WGST, WORK, or SJST.
- Applicant must be available during class times and final exam slot.
- Applicant must have received a final grade of 80% or higher a WGST, WORK, or SJST course.
- Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 75% or higher.
All GAs and TAs hired will be required to complete the mandatory new employee training at uwindsor.ca/requiredtraining and provide proof of completion to Women’s and Gender Studies. If you have already completed this training, please submit your certificate and/or email confirmations along with your application.
Please submit completed application form, resumé, unofficial transcript (print/download yourself from UWinsite Student), and 1 academic letter of reference (letter may arrive separately, directly from professor), to:
