Lorraine Pinnock is on a mission to help people as they transition from the criminal injustice system to communities.  After spending nearly four years in correctional institutions, she believes that providing disadvantaged people with some form of higher education and academic development can ensure their success and break the revolving door trap.  Lorraine is also one of the founding member of the Walls-to-Bridges Collective, based in Kitchener, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies from Laurentian University. She counts spending time with her family and dog Wiley, working with youths caught up in the criminal system, running, traveling and soup among her myriad interests.

Rachel Fayter has been involved with Walls to Bridges since September 2014, taking her first class on “Diversity, Marginalization, and Oppression” at Grand Valley Institution (GVI) in Kitchener. Following completion of the course she applied to join the W2B Collective. Rachel was involved in the planning and facilitation of W2B Facilitator Training sessions in 2015, 2016, and 2017. She also assisted with an Employment Forum for Criminalized Women in April 2016 at GVI. She is the author of an article in the Journal of Prisoners on Prisons which documents the significance of W2B, called “Social justice praxis within the Walls to Bridges program: Pedagogy of oppressed federally sentenced women.” (v. 25, 56-71).  Rachel is planning on returning to graduate school to conduct research examining the issue of human rights for criminalized women.
