Student Applications

Please Note: Applications will only be accepted electronically (on-line)

Please read ALL of the instructions before filling out the application.

If you are interested in applying for a WISE position what you need to do is:

  1. Check that you are eligible to apply by going to the WISE program website and looking at the Eligibility & Requirements section.

    Please Note:
    - meeting the requirements is not a guarantee of employment
    - there are usually more applications than there are available positions

  2. Check the available positions and determine if you have the skills that are required for any positions that you are interested in.

  3. Make a resume (or update one that you already have) and save it on your computer or on a disk in Rich Text Format (RTF) or PDF. The resume is what the employer will be using to evaluate if they want to have you come in for an interview - make sure that your resume is done correctly.

    * If you need help making your resume go to the Centre for Career Education (in Dillon Hall) and they have people there who can help you.

  4. Once you have filled in all the information on the online form (follow the examples provided), you need to click on the "Submit" button.

The screen will change and go back to the WISE website - once you have done this your application is complete.

  5. Incomplete, inaccurate, and duplicate applications will be deleted from the database and will not be forwarded to prospective employers. Please follow all of the instructions on the screen.

  6. You will only be contacted if you are selected for an interview or a position.

    * Do NOT contact the employers directly.

    * The employers have been asked NOT to hire any students that contact them directly.

    * The ISC staff will not talk to or try to influence hiring decisions of the WISE employers.

    * There are more applications than there are available positions - this means that some very qualified applicants will not be contacted or get jobs

  7. Other Information:
  • Complete only one application:

    - you can apply for up to 2 positions on the same application (follow all of the instructions on the screen).

    - you do not need to fill-out a separate application for each position you apply for

    - multiple applications will be deleted

  • Applications that are not completed correctly or that are missing information will be deleted from the database.

  • Apply only for the jobs that you are both interested in and qualified for. Applying for many jobs does not increase your chances.

  • There are some jobs where it is indicated that the employers wishes to rehire the student they had previously.

    - these positions are clearly marked, and you want to be careful if you are selecting one of these positions in your application

    - these positions will only become available if the student to be rehired does not apply or does not qualify for the WISE program

  • Once your application has been submitted you will only be contacted if you are selected for an interview. Hiring and other deadlines are posted on the website.

  • Students can only have one WISE job at any given time
    - ideally students should not be working any other jobs (on or off campus) as well
    - academics needs to remain all students primary focus
