Speak Up, Speak Out: Kerry Thorne

“Returning to school after a workplace injury was both exciting and intimidating, to put it mildly. I was leaning towards Social Work as a profession, due to the fact that social justice issues have always been a deep concern of mine. While trying to find the right program for me, I came across the combined program of Social Work and Women’s Studies. I was really excited because women’s issues have always been of great interest to me. I really feel as though I have found the perfect program that combines two of my passions. I have been surprised by the realization that a lot of what I thought were facts about people, races, genders, different sexualities, and cultures were really outlooks built into my beliefs and perceptions by the society I live in.”
