Speak Up, Speak Out: Louisa Okpara

“Personally, it’s been a challenge being in Women Studies because of the misunderstanding and misjudgement of those who do not understand what Women’s Studies is. People think I am a gender discriminator. Women’s Studies does not endorse disliking the male gender; rather, its purpose is to seek out ways to eradicate injustices that threaten to undermine us as women. Understanding the history of women, their lives, challenges, friendships, and traditional gender roles has improved my ability and desire to boldly be a feminist and speak up for women’s rights no matter where I am.”
