Mark Micelli is an important part of Australia’s Waves of Wellness Foundation, an innovative mental health charity that uses surfing as a form of therapeutic engagement. As program coordinator, Mark’s divides his time between the beach and the office, where he organizes groups, connects with other community organizations, secures grants, and helps facilitators deliver purposeful support programs that combine surf lessons with recovery-focused discussions. Mark’s Social Work education equipped him with a comprehensive, creative understanding of how to promote positive change and the in-demand professional credentials that allowed him to immigrate to Australia and chase down citizenship.
