Wind Tunnels

The Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI) features two new wind tunnels for research by engineering faculty members, graduate and doctoral students.

The larger of the two wind tunnels was made by Industrial Metal Fabricators Ltd. located in Chatham. It is a 12 meter long tunnel, located in the north-east side of the CEI, is equipped with a 1.2 meter fan and a 30 horsepower motor, and capable of generating up to 108km/h winds. It will be used to research a variety of topics including current issues, such as renewable green energy and automotive aerodynamic efficiency. The smaller wind tunnel is designed to study winds-based structural, automotive and environmental issues.
