Downtown Programs

Fine Arts

The School for Creative Arts (SoCA) in the City of Windsor’s downtown core allows students and faculty alike to practise, perform and exhibit their works within walking distance of the city’s major artistic venues.

These programs reside in the re-imagined Windsor Armouries. The Windsor Armouries, which once served as a place where men and women dedicated themselves to the service of our country, now lives on as a place of human emotion, learning and inspiration.

Music students have easy access to major performing venues including All Saints Church, Phog, Villains Beastro and the Art Gallery of Windsor. The office of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra is located just a few short blocks from the Armouries. Students can take-in concerts of international and high profile performers at Caesars Colosseum, St. Clair College for the Performing Arts or choose from the many music clubs in the city.

The downtown core is also home to the Art Gallery of Windsor and the Artcite gallery. These venues provide Visual Arts students access to inspirational works. The region boasts many art venues within close proximity to our downtown campus.

Social Work

UWindsor’s School of Social Work is located in the former Windsor Star building in downtown Windsor, placing students strategically within blocks of critical social service agencies. Field placements in the downtown core present an opportunity to significantly broaden the bandwidth between important academic programming and the needs of our community.

Centre for Executive and Professional Education

The Centre for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE) facilitates professional growth through degree programs and professional development workshops. Residing in Windsor’s downtown core on the site of the former Windsor Star complex, its reach beyond the main campus to provide an exceptional education is critical in developing professional skills.
