WECAP Employer Information

Windsor-Essex Career Apprenticeship Program (WECAP) connects Windsor-Essex County employers with a pool of talented, soon-to-be grads from UWindsor’s Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences undergraduate programs for early-career apprenticeship opportunities.

Participating organizations will have the opportunity to receive a grant for four months salary paid to the qualified and career-ready new graduate hired through the program. WECAP employers are required to create a career apprenticeship opportunity within their organization for new graduate to launch their career locally and build on their experience and skill development.

All WECAP opportunities are full-time and paid for at least one year.

  • Receive a grant valued at four months’ salary (maximum $4,000/month) for the hired candidate to a maximum of $16,000 per position. Grant reimburses employers for the first two and last two months of full-time salary for the 12-month apprenticeship.
  • Direct access to a pool of energetic, talented, and career-ready graduating students that can bring a new perspective and contributions to your organization as young professionals.
  • Receive support through the application, interview, and hiring process from UWindsor’s Career Development & Experiential Learning (CDEL) team.

WECAP 2022 is now closed. WECAP 2023 intake will begin Fall 2023 for May/June 2023 apprenticeship start dates.
