Partner with us through the VIP-Community Service Learning experience (VIP-CSL)!
The office of Career Development & Experiential Learning brings you the opportunity to mentor and support students that want to have a real impact on their community. VIP students have been vetted through a competitive admission process including an application, resume submission, interview and academic review. If you represent a non-profit or publicly funded organization, we would like to invite you to tap into our pool of motivated and talented students!
VIP-CSL participants wish to work with your community organization to have an impact on the community while gaining skills and experience for their future careers. Our students are excited to be able to address our community's needs directly. In addition to volunteering a minimum of 40 hours, students will also complete a series of professional development activities with our office. This opportunity will take place during a single semester and is co-curricular (in addition to their academic courses).
Our staff will match organizations with students for the positions you create. VIP students will start volunteering in the beginning of the second month of the academic term (October, February, June). Students work under supervisor at your location (non-residential) or at community events to complete a minimum of 40 volunteer hours over one semester. Students come from a variety of programs, and are ready and willing to delve into task-based or project orientated roles that will provide an opportunity for them to apply discipline specific knowledge or gain relevant skills for their career. They can be assigned to a special project or be integrated into your day-to-day operations.
We welcome submission of a VIP position(s) anytime. The deadline for each term is 2-3 weeks before the term begins (mid-December for Winter, mid-April for summer, mid-August for fall). Contact vip@uwindsor.ca for our VIP job posting form or to ask to have your previous position re-posted. Resources are available to help you write a competitive position, please ask, Jane Sylvester if you need assistance.
