Film documents history of Assumption parish

A free public screening August 14 will premiere a documentary exploring the history and significance of Assumption Church, the oldest Catholic parish in Ontario.

A Community in Transition: 250 Years of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Windsor, produced by Salt and Light Television, tells the story of Assumption parish. Founded in 1767 as a unique Huron and French-Canadian community, the parish has served as a cornerstone of Windsor ever since.

The Gothic Revival church, built in 1845 and standing now at the intersection of Huron Church Road and University Avenue, will host the screening at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
