Former premier to address challenges of climate change fight

The news is daily filled with reports of severe, weather-related events and disasters. Earth keeps getting warmer but the world remains cool to taking the necessary action to curb carbon emissions. Most Canadians now believe climate change is real, but shrinking denial has given way to growing despair. Can we win this fight?

Former Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty will address the question in his public presentation “Climate Change: Can We Win This? Be Honest” at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Vanier Hall’s Katzman Lounge.

McGuinty served as premier from 2003 to 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, as well as Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration. He sits on the board of directors of Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and the construction company Pomerleau Inc.

His UWindsor appearance is sponsored by the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Tickets are free: contact Marg Mayer at 519-253-3000, ext. 2528, or email mmayer@uwindsor.ca.
