While the global pandemic has spurred workplaces the world over to transition quickly to paperless communication, the University’s Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS) was fortunate to be ahead of the curve.

One year ago, ORIS began planning to retire the paper forms used in applying for research grants, and started working with Process Pathways (who have been supporting ORIS  database services for over 10 years) to roll out the eRSO Research Portal, which will enable UWindsor researchers to access fully online application forms, and will streamline both the approval process, the management of funding.

This week, Process Pathways’ parent company, Cayuse, recognized ORIS at their annual industry conference with the Modernization Award for Canada.

This award recognizes individuals or organizations who engaged in updating and modernizing their systems across the research lifecycle through implementation of new technologies.

“Our office has worked incredibly hard over the past year to prepare for this change, and every member of our team has been involved, right down to our co-op students," said ORIS Executive Director Heather Pratt.

"I am so grateful to our team for their efforts in making this possible, and to our colleagues here at UWindsor who have helped us along the way.”

ORIS expects the eRSO Research Portal to roll out to all faculty over the course of the 2020-21 academic year and we will be providing additional information in the near future.
