The Secretary to the Director and Coordinator of Auditions contributes to the efficient and effective organization and operation of the School of Music and provides maximum assistance and support to the duties of the Director. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to be accurate and have attention to detail. As the liaison between the School, Music Student Society, Music Therapy Student Association and other departments on campus, excellent customer service and human relations skills are essential, including the ability to exercise diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality with the ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations. The candidate will have experience in recording minutes of meetings and related work, as well as, knowledge of the University’s PTR process and UCAPT guidelines. Experience working with the Student Information System (SIS) and Financial Information System (FIS) is required. Advanced computer skills: Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and 50 NWPM typing speed. The successful candidate will also have good proofreading skills. A willingness to work extended hours during peak periods is important as is the ability to work independently and take initiative.

Reporting to the Director, Research and Development, the Business Development and Research Commercialization Officer will provide support at the Faculty level, to enhance the development of collaborative relationships between the University, private sector partners, and government agencies in support of the University’s research commercialization and technology transfer activities. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and demonstrable experience and knowledge of research and commercialization. A minimum 10 years extensive technology transfer experience in a University or industry setting. Five to ten years of technical experience in research development and research administration. A full understanding and working knowledge of contracts, patents, licensing agreements, option agreements, non-disclosure agreements and copyrights legislation. The incumbent will have superior marketing and coordinating experience along with demonstrated knowledge of research policies and trends within Canada and globally. The incumbent will have strong interpersonal skills, awareness of and sensitivity to individual, gender, and cultural differences and the ability to work closely with others in the creation of reports, applications or professional documents. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to read and understand diverse disciplines and preparation of reports. Proven client-centred service delivery. Strong analytical skills; ability to grasp problems quickly; resourcefulness. The incumbent must have effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail. Must have a demonstrated high level of proficiency with computer technology, including database administration and MS Office Productivity Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Highly motivated self-starter with a creative mind and strong and demonstrated writing ability.
