Downtown businesses planning to put smiles on the faces of mass photo participants

Downtown businesses are preparing to welcome participants in Friday’s mass photo shoot marking the occasion of the official transfer of ownership of the former Windsor Star buildings to the University of Windsor.

“Say Cheese for the Keys” will record the historic moment at noon; buses will shuttle students, staff and faculty from Vanier Circle starting at 11 a.m.

Among the special offers planned are free coffee on site provided by a Tim Hortons franchise, as well as student lunch discounts of 10 per cent at Elias Deli and Sushi One on Ouellette Avenue. Booster Juice at 32 University Avenue East is offering students a “buy one, get one free” deal on its smoothies. Find a full list of the specials on the event’s Facebook page.

Renovations will begin in the New Year to transform the Windsor Star complex at the corner of Pitt and Ferry streets into space for programs in social work and the Centre for Executive and Professional Education.

Similar group photos will be taken in the armouries and bus depot once those properties are ready for transfer to the University. View a map of downtown parking.
