Students hoping to make a difference on campus have one last chance to apply for the Lead@UWindsor program, an initiative of student and international affairs to provide them with the opportunity to get involved.
Volunteers can choose to help with events such as Head Start and Windsor Welcome Week as well as in offices like the Aboriginal Education Centre, the International Student Centre, the Educational Development Centre, or the Centre for Career Education.
Nadia Hachem, a student development specialist for volunteer and leadership, calls the program a great opportunity to learn, grow, and meet other people.
“Our Lead@UWindsor participants have a chance opportunity to make a difference on campus, provide support to their peers, influence their surroundings and gain valuable experience,” she says.
Among the opportunities available to those accepted into the program are:
- Aboriginal Education Centre volunteer or mentor
- Volunteer at the International Students Centre
- Peer career educators in the Centre for Career Education
- Student Orienting Students (S.O.S.) volunteers
- Windsor Welcome Week (WWW) volunteers
- Special events volunteer
The deadline to apply is Monday, January 28. The online application form is available through the volunteer website at www.uwindsor.ca/volunteer. For more information, phone Hachem at 519-253-3000, ext. 3462, or e-mail nadiah@uwindsor.ca.
