Marketplace menu going multicultural in celebration of nations

The Marketplace food court in the CAW Student Centre will serve a multicultural menu this week, February 11 to 14, in observance of the Celebration of Nations.

Monday’s lunch is Mexican, featuring chorizo-stuffed mushroom caps, taquitos with marinated chicken and honey chipotle sauce, vegetarian quesadillas with guacamole, and pescado with lime pico de gallo.

Dinner Monday is Chinese and will offer pepper steak, chicken chow mein, a vegetarian stir-fry, and sweet and sour chicken.

Tuesday will feature Indian food for both lunch and dinner—butter paneer, chana and cauliflower masala, curry beef, and chicken biryani with cucumber raita.

Wednesday lunch is Italian, with pollo agro e dolce with peperonata, scaloppini al tartufo, ricoota and spinach cannolo with blush sauce, and cumato bruschetta topped with basil oil and mozzarella cheese.

Dinner Wednesday is Brazilian, featuring the gumbo-like caruru, black bean feijoada, the salt cod stew bacalhoada, and grilled churrasco.

Thursday’s lunch will feature Caribbean flavours: chicken with rice and peas, salmon with papaya barbecue sauce and heart of palm, and cacao-rubbed beef brochette with jerk marinade.

Thursday’s dinner will celebrate St. Valentine’s Day, with these entrée choices:

  • Surf and turf: a six-oz. New York strip loin steak served with garlic shrimp, asparagus tips, carrot coins and duo of duchess potato Madeira reduction;
  • Heart-shaped jumbo ravioli filled with ricotta and cheeses, creamed butternut squash, and cremini mushrooms.
  • Chicken stuffed with fig, walnut and brie, served with a natural au jus, port and balsamic reduction.

Celebration of Nations runs 1:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14, in the CAW Student Centre Commons. Find more info on the event website.
