Deadline extended for Open and Online Learning grants

The Office of Open Learning has extended the deadline for all Open and Online Learning Strategic Development Grants applications to Friday, May 10.

Acting director Nick Baker said the response from across campus has been phenomenal.

“We’ve had expressions of interest from every faculty, with truly innovative ideas emerging,” he said. “It has been absolutely fantastic to see so many dedicated faculty who want to explore different pedagogical approaches to support high quality online learning.”

Baker said the decision to extend the grant deadline was a response to the desire to give everyone the best chance at success in writing their grant applications.

“We recognize that this is a very busy time of year for everyone with final exams, marking and submission of grades,” he said. “Giving people a little bit of extra time means we are likely to get better applications that capture the range of ideas for innovative online education approaches.”

The grants are available to support development of new online programs (up to $50,000), online courses (up to $10,000) or open educational resources (up to $5,000).

Application forms and guidelines are available online from the open learning website, or from Alicia Higgison in the Office of Open Learning at higgison@uwindsor.ca or 519-253-3000, ext. 2008.
