Volleyball and basketball to jumpstart all-female sport program

An all-female environment for sport—the first of its kind in Windsor-Essex—will launch Friday with six-week programs in volleyball or basketball for girls six to 16 years old.

Girls Organizing And Learning Sport (GOALS) will increase opportunity for girls to be active and to be leaders; increase their physical literacy; and develop their leadership skills in the delivery of sport programs, says organizer Margery Holman.

For the $60 fee, participants will receive quality instruction, a T-shirt and a ball. Each program runs one hour; volleyball starting at 6 p.m. and basketball at 7 p.m. at A.V. Graham Public School, 815 Belinda Crescent in Tecumseh. More information, including the online registration, is available on the website of the sponsor, Leadership Advancement for Women and Sport.
