Conference organizers call for papers on subject of everyday feminism

A conference organized by the University of Windsor Feminist Research Group promises to showcase the research of graduate and undergraduate students on the theme of “Everyday feminism: Feminist influences in everyday lives.”

The one-day event is scheduled for March 14 on the UWindsor campus, and is open to students and faculty of the University of Windsor and surrounding post-secondary institutions.

“As in previous years, this year’s conference theme is broad and will focus on issues pertaining to women and feminism,” says organizer Mia Sisic, a doctoral student of psychology. “A contributed presentation may be a research report, a case study, a methodological presentation, a theoretical or conceptual paper, a musical composition, or a visual presentation.”

She says that presenters are encouraged to avoid jargon so their work is accessible to a diverse audience.

“We are looking for a diverse array of presentations by students from any discipline that incorporate, either directly or indirectly, issues related to femininity and masculinity, gender, sexuality, and feminism,” Sisic says. “Submissions are not limited to dissertation or thesis work, but are open to course term papers and other research, and even work in progress.”

Submissions are due by January 30. Details are available on the conference website.
