Weekend busy with Lancer playoff contests

The Lancer men’s basketball team may get a bounce in its run for the provincial championship this weekend, as Ontario University Athletics named three veteran players west division all-stars.

Windsor will open the Wilson Cup Final Four men’s basketball championship tournament with a semi-final match against the Carleton Ravens at Ryerson University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre tonight—February 28—at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to the final, Saturday, March 1. Sportsnet One will televise all the Wilson Cup games live.

The Lancer women’s basketball team will host the Laurier Golden Hawks for the OUA west division title, Saturday, March 1, at the St. Denis Centre. Admission is $12; $10 for youths and seniors; $3 for UWindsor students with ID.

The men’s hockey team will look to even its quarter-final series against the Western Mustangs on Saturday after dropping the first of three games 3-2 Thursday. Game two is scheduled for South Windsor Arena; the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Game three, if necessary, is back in London at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 2.
