When mom Kristin Canty set out to buy her family’s food directly from local, organic farms, she learned that farmers and co-ops all over the United States must deal with harassment from government agencies better equipped to deal with corporate agriculture.
The small farm advocate was driven to produce her first film—Farmageddon: The Unseen War on American Family Farms. She hopes that when people see it, public pressure will stop the government from adding costly burdens to organic farmers.
The Environmental Wednesdays documentary series will screen the film at noon March 19 in the International Student Centre on the second floor of Laurier Hall. The screening, sponsored by the centre and UWindsor Green, is free and open to the public.
