Windsor Law grad to speak to issues of equity and Aboriginal social justice

A one-day conference will explore “Equity and Aboriginal Social Justice in Canada,” March 16 on the UWindsor campus.

Windsor Law alumna Sarah Clarke (LLB 2008), an associate with Hensel Barristers, is one of the keynote speakers. Her practice focuses on serving First Nation clients and their members in matters related to Aboriginal and treaty rights, the duty to consult, election disputes, and child welfare disputes.

Other presenters include Cindy Blackstock, executive director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society and the director of the First Nations Children’s Action Research and Education Service at the University of Alberta, and Cyndy Baskin, a professor of social work at Ryerson University whose teaching and research interests involve working with Aboriginal communities.

The event runs noon to 4 p.m. in the Moot Court, Ron W. Ianni Faculty of Law Building, and will be followed by a dinner. Admission is free, but dinner requires a reservation by March 11 at 519-253-3000, ext. 4630.
