A workshop on campus Friday seeks to engage the campus in local efforts to fight poverty.

The event grew out of his stint at Windsor Law as a Community Leadership in Justice Fellow, says Adam Vasey (BA 1999, LLB 2002, MSW 2008), director of Pathway to Potential, a poverty reduction organization in Windsor-Essex.

“We will bring together members of the community, faculty, activists, students and people experiencing poverty with the shared goal of engagement and action,” he says. “We’ll explore the various ways that the University of Windsor and the broader community can work collectively to address the root causes of poverty.”

After a morning focus on current projects, breakout sessions will consider organizing on specific local issues requiring action.

“Charity is Good, Justice is Better” is free and open to the public—and includes lunch. It is set for October 2 in the Winclare Room, Vanier Hall. Registration is available at justiceisbetter.eventbrite.ca and closes on Thursday, October 1.
