Lancer soccer honoured as provincial team of the month

Ontario University Athletics has selected Lancer men’s soccer as its male team of the month for September. The squad, ranked third in the country, went 6-1-1 in the month, including a victory over defending national champion York. Read more at goLancers.ca.

Soccer is back in action on Alumni Field this weekend; Friday it’s the Guelph Gryphons with the men playing at 6 p.m. and the women at 8:15 p.m. On Saturday, Windsor will host the Brock Badgers, women at 1 p.m. and the men at 3:15 p.m.

In other varsity action, the men’s hockey team will follow up Wednesday’s season-opening 5-1 win over Guelph by facing off against the Waterloo Warriors at South Windsor Arena, 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Kyle Hope, with two, Scott Prier, Ryan Green and Eric Noel accounted for the Lancer scoring Wednesday. Rookie goaltender Blake Richard notched the shutout.

Cross country will travel to the west coast to compete Saturday in the Western Washington University Classic.
