Scholar-in-residence to mentor law students in intellectual property

Karima BawaThe inaugural scholar-in-residence of the Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship Clinic lab in the Faculty of Law is an expert in intellectual property and a former executive at one of Canada’s leading telecommunications companies.

Karima Bawa is a senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance and Innovation, where she studies issues surrounding the commercialization of university research and advises technology start-ups. Bawa served as chief legal officer at Research in Motion (now BlackBerry Ltd.) from 2000 to 2012.

As scholar-in-residence at LTEC Lab, she will work closely with professor Myra Tawfik and other members of the team, which pulls together UWindsor faculty, students and alumni interested in projects on the theme of law and technology.
