Lancer basketball will host the Guelph Gryphons for its home openers Wednesday, November 16, in the Dennis Fairall fieldhouse. The women will tip off at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.
With a roster filled with returning veterans including all-stars Emily Prevost, Cheyanne Roger and Kaylee Anagnostopoulos, women’s head coach Chantal Vallée will look to improve on last year’s provincial bronze medal finish.
“We have built another team that has all the characteristics to win a championship,” she says.
The squad swept its opening weekend, with wins over the Nipissing Lakers, 81-39, and Laurentian Voyageurs, 68-47.
The men’s team will welcome head coach Chris Oliver back from a sabbatical, aiming for a fourth straight appearance in the Ontario University Athletics final four.
“We are excited for the challenges of the season and expect to compete for an opportunity to play into March,” says Oliver.
The men split their opening weekend, defeating Nipissing 76-73 and dropping an 86-82 decision to Laurentian.
