Former dean of law appointed as associate VP academic

Provost Douglas Kneale announced Wednesday the appointment of Jeff Berryman to a five-year term as associate vice-president, academic, effective March 1. Prof. Berryman had been serving in the role in an acting capacity since January 2016.

Formerly dean of the Faculty of Law, he has held appointments as senior research leadership chair and distinguished university professor.

In making the announcement, Dr. Kneale highlighted Berryman’s six years chairing the appraisal committee of the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance, which is responsible for reviewing new degree programs, major modifications and graduate diplomas.

“He thus brings to the role a broad understanding of Ontario’s universities, including the quality assurance process,” Kneale wrote. “I look forward to working with him in the years ahead.”
