Reception to commemorate late professor emerita Lois Smedick

Family, friends, and colleagues of Lois Smedick will gather to celebrate her life at a reception Thursday, November 2, in the Heritage Auditorium, Assumption Hall. Dr. Smedick, who served 12 years as the first female dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research in UWindsor history, died September 13.

The event will also see the posthumous conferral of the Christian Culture Gold Medal on Smedick by Assumption University, Roman Catholic affiliate of the University of Windsor. The medal recognizes an “outstanding lay exponent of Christian ideals.”

Thursday’s reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 5:15 p.m. Find additional details in her obituary.
