Orientation program schooling incoming class on university life

The Head Start orientation program was great for Brigitte Reinhart, giving her a first look at the University of Windsor.

“It was nice to get a tour,” said Reinhart, who plans to begin studies in kinesiology in September. “I thought the campus was really pretty.”

She and her friend Payton Bacon were among the first cohort to take advantage of Head Start, driving down from West Lorne to participate in Friday’s sessions, which specialized in science programs.

It was a valuable experience, Bacon said, noting that meeting with faculty helped her decide a major of study: “They went through the courses with me, which helped me to pick a program best suited to my interests.”

She plans to pursue a degree in behaviour, cognition, and neuroscience.

The two also loaded up on gear from the Campus Bookstore, and headed home with bags full of UWindsor T-shirts and sweats.

Faculty-specific Head Start dates resume on Fridays in mid-July:

  • July 13, nursing and human kinetics;
  • July 27, engineering and business;
  • August 3, arts, humanities, and social sciences.

These dates offer the opportunity to meet faculty, answer program-related questions, and explore buildings and facilities which will house the majority of first-year classes.

All necessary information will also be made available during general Head Start sessions, all on Saturdays: July 14 and 28, August 4. Find details, including registration instructions, on the Head Start website.
