Students’ project sounds note of appreciation for front-line workers

UWindsor president Robert Gordon is one of the people from across the community offered a chance to pay tribute to local front-line workers helping Windsor-Essex get through the COVID-19 pandemic in a video produced by two students.

History grad student Ronnie Haidar and third-year nursing student Attila Gombos — principals in the In-Depth Productions company — recorded messages from mayor Drew Dilkens, federal and provincial representatives, figures in education, sport, media, and dozens of others for their five-minute video “Thank You to our Front Line Heroes in Windsor-Essex.”

“We want to demonstrate our appreciation to all of our essential workers helping us get through these unprecedented times,” says Haidar.

Participants mentioned healthcare staff, grocery clerks and bankers, delivery drivers and volunteers.

Dr. Gordon’s remarks were typical of the sentiments expressed: “A great big Thank You to all of our incredible front-line heroes for putting our community first.”
