UWindsor Pride Committee seeking new members

The University of Windsor Pride Committee is looking for new members and volunteers to help plan and execute campus-wide pride events for the upcoming academic year, including UWindsor’s participation in Pride month, the virtual Windsor-Essex Pride Fest and the launch of a new website.

Supported by the Office of Student Experience, this committee was originally formed in July of 2019, recognizing the need for continued LGBTQ2+ support and education on campus.

In 2020 the committee hosted virtual events and education sessions, produced resources that were distributed on social media, and helped organize the first raising of the Progressive Pride Flag on campus.

Now, the committee is looking to build on its momentum for 2021, says co-chair Joyceln Lorito, student accessibility adviser.

“We have hit some great milestones, but there is still more than can be done,” Lorito says.

Those interested in becoming a part of the committee or volunteering with the committee can send an email to UWinPride@uwindsor.ca. The committee also welcomes suggestions for new content to share related to the LGBTQ2 community, including course work, projects, seminars, and research.
