Continuing Education summer programs hitting full swing

Online summer learning is available for professionals and students through Continuing Education. Classes span a variety of disciplines for both personal and professional development, from preparatory courses for first-year students to plein air painting, project management, and classes related to health sciences.

The UWindsor Prep Program is geared towards incoming first-year students, individuals switching majors, or those transferring to the University of Windsor. Course offerings include Advanced Functions, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus. “Introduction to Microsoft Excel” is available within this prep program or to anyone interested. The first classes for UWindsor Prep begin July 19.

Plein Air Painting” is a four-day course exploring the history of Plein Air, learning watercolour techniques, and painting in the outdoors. Learners will have the opportunity to paint at an outdoor meeting site or online. Instructor April Morris holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Education, a certificate in arts management, and a Master of Fine Arts from UWindsor. This class runs Aug. 19 to 22 at varying times.

Professional development offerings this summer include the Accelerated Project Management Program, comprising two levels to achieve the Accelerated Project Management Certificate, but also available as individual classes. “Level I: Project Management Essentials” presents an accessible, hands-on journey through a project initiation to closing, with emphasis on initiation and planning. Course participants work in project teams to practice project management tools while experiencing realistic challenges that are encountered on the projects. This class begins Aug. 23 in six half-day online sessions.

Continuing Education is also offering refresher classes and workshops for medical professionals. The “Foundations of Pharmacology” course and the “Health Assessment Refresher Workshop” offer a review of foundational pharmacological principles and hands-on health assessment practices respectively. Both are single-day courses and take place on Aug. 28 and 29.
