The Health and Research Centre for the Study of Violence Against Women (HRC-VAW) is looking for new members.

The HRC-VAW is an interdisciplinary group of more than 25 University of Windsor faculty and graduate student researchers with interests that include the causes of violence against women. Violence against women is broadly defined and includes causes, prevention, protection, the rehabilitation of its effects, and more.

Its membership has been comprised of faculty, postdocs, and graduate students from various departments and schools, with previous members representing psychology; political science; sociology, anthropology, and criminal justice; women’s and gender studies; history; social work; human kinetics; law; business; and education.

In addition to developing interdisciplinary relationships, the centre hosts events for the school and campus community: symposiums, student workshops, guest speakers, and in 2019 a two-day conference committed to bridging the gap and connecting relationships between sexual assault and intimate partner violence sectors.

This upcoming year, the centre has planned such events as writing days, student workshops — including giving a compelling job talk and preparing for the academic job market, and guest speakers sharing their research on relevant subject areas.
