Professional peers shine spotlight on athletics staffer

Describing her as “a fixture” at the University of Windsor, an international association of collegiate sports information officers has spotlighted Elisa Mitton (BComm 2005) as part of a series of member profiles.

The article, by intern Brandon Jones of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), notes Mitton’s responsibility promoting 17 varsity programs and two club teams.

“I have witnessed the ebbs and flows of many of our programs over the years, and I have loved watching our teams grow from struggling programs to national contenders,” says Mitton, sports information co-ordinator for the Lancers since 2005. “I have seen student-athletes start their university careers and grow into successful adults who support our programs as alumni.”

She says she appreciates learning history from long-time fans.

“I hope that one day I will be 80 years old and still be watching the blue and gold compete,” Mitton says. “Maybe I can even be a resource to their future sports information director.”

Founded in 1957, CoSIDA boasts more than 3,000 members working in communications at all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. Read the entire profile of Mitton on its website.
