Webinar promises stories from leader in equity, diversity, and inclusion

Like many racialized people in Canada, Clinton Beckford has stories to tell.

UWindsor vice-president for equity, diversity, and inclusion, he will share some of them in a webinar entitled “Beyond Personal: My Story of EDI Leadership in This Moment,” hosted online by Wilfrid Laurier University on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

“This is a story of an immigrant galvanized by personal and vicarious experiences with racism and discrimination to create institutional change,” Dr. Beckford says. “I will share some of my experiences with you, how they have shaped who I am and what I do today, and my ideas about leading transformational change in EDI at my university.”

The event is part of Laurier’s Lamine Diallo EDI Speaker Series, which is hosted by its Office of the Associate Vice-President, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in collaboration with the Tshepo Institute for the Study of Contemporary Africa and Laurier’s Black faculty and staff caucus.
