Tower of Freedom Underground Railroad MonumentBearing the words “Keeping the Flame of Freedom Alive,” Windsor’s Tower of Freedom Underground Railroad Monument honouring the flight of enslaved African Americans to freedom in Canada was created by sculptor Ed Dwight.

Contestant converts historical trivia into prize win

Angela Sullivan, a secretary in the Leddy Library, earned a copy of the 2022 Legacy Collexion poster by Robert Small (BA 1993) along with an assortment of swag from the University of Windsor Alumni Association by winning Wednesday’s trivia quiz on local Black history.

Sullivan’s entry was drawn from all those which correctly identified Elijah McCoy as the prolific inventor, Delos Rogest Davis as the first Canadian lawyer who came to the country via Underground Railroad, and Ed Dwight as the sculptor of the Tower of Freedom monument.

There will be more chances to win: the quiz series will continue in DailyNews through the month.
