Inclusion and Indigeneity themes of Wednesday events

Events exploring issues of Indigeneity and inclusion are the Wednesday, March 23, contributions to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) Week.

Law professor Beverly Jacobs, senior advisor to the president on Indigenous relations and outreach, will present the webinar “What does it mean to Indigenize the University of Windsor?” at 10:30 a.m. Register here to attend on the Microsoft Teams platform.

A panel discussion with co-founders Fardovza Kusow and Hussein Samhat in conversation with UWindsor president Robert Gordon will serve to launch the Belonging, Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity (BIDE) Institute, a student-led platform for underrepresented and marginalized groups. It will begin on Teams at 1 p.m. Registration is open here.

The institute will open its Cultural Awareness and Belonging Speaker Series with a presentation by John Elliot and Amina Abdulle at 6 p.m. Elliot is executive director of the Sandwich Teen Action Group, which provides after-school programming for youth. Abdulle is the teacher consultant for equity with the Greater Essex County District School Board. The event will be conducted in person at the Essex Hall Theatre and remotely via Zoom.
