Disability and inclusion issues subject of webinar

A webinar Tuesday, April 5, will focus on how students, staff, and faculty can best interact with those in the disability community.

The event is intended as a first step in a lifelong journey towards learning about disabilities, says Celeste Simpson, co-president of the Disability Studies Student Association.

Students in programs outside of disability studies in the School of Social Work often do not get the opportunity to take classes on these issues,” she says. “It doesn’t matter what program students are in or what career path they choose, they will more than likely work alongside people with disabilities or have clients who are disabled.”

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with formal presentations lasting about 90 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes for questions.

“We understand that April is a busy month, but even if you can only stay for some of the presentation, we would love to have you,” Simpson says.

Registration is open through Friday, April 1. Sign up here to receive the agenda and Microsoft Teams link.
