April workshops offer professional development

The Organizational Development and Training team in Human Resources presents a series of online workshops for UWindsor staff and faculty in April.

Having Coaching Conversations: April 5, 1 to 3 p.m.
Coaching conversations empower individuals through encouragement and teaching. Successful coaching guides individuals towards success while promoting independent thinking and collaboration to overcome challenges. This session will provide an overview of the elements of a successful coaching conversation and best practice strategies.

Bystander Intervention – An Introduction: April 7, 1 to 3 p.m.
The Bystander Initiative aims to engage campus community members as stakeholders in the prevention of sexual violence, equip them with the skills to identify and safely intervene in harmful situations, and build empathy for survivors of sexual violence. This session will introduce the Bystander Initiative aimed at creating a safe, respectful, and healthy learning and working environment.

Social Media Tips and Tools: April 12, 1 to 3 p.m.
Social media can help you engage and connect with your audience. This session will explore tips and tools to help you create your social media posts. It will also introduce Adobe Spark, an integrated suite of media creation applications to easily create graphics and videos that can make your social media posts stand out.

Overcoming Challenging Service Interactions: April 13, 9 to 11 a.m.
Part of delivering exceptional service requires managing challenging service interactions. This session will explore the role that one’s emotions and perspectives play in managing these interactions as well as highlight practical steps and communication strategies to de-escalate the situation and provide a positive service experience.

Understanding Worry and Anxiety: April 19, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
During these unprecedented times a certain amount of worry and anxiety are normal. While worry is a part of anxiety, it is not the same thing. This session will explore the difference between worry and anxiety, what to do if you are worrying excessively, and strategies for coping with anxiety.

Working Through Change and Transition: April 21, 9 to 11 a.m.
Life is a state of constant change. Some of these changes may be profound and overwhelming, some may be voluntary while others may be out of your control. While you may not be able to control the change, you have control over the transition. This session will highlight steps for working through transitions and self-care practices.

Building Resiliency: April 27, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
We all juggle personal, family, social, financial, and work demands. Most of us do well, but any of us could be blindsided by an unexpected crisis or overwhelmed when stressors start to pile up. This session will help you create a plan to improve your resilience and develop healthy coping strategies to deal with life's challenges.
