University issues reminder that campus is smoke-free

With the return to campus of a larger number of students, faculty and staff for the Fall 2022 semester, the University is issuing a reminder that it has instituted a smoke-free campus policy

Smoking or vaping of tobacco, cannabis, or vapour products and use of any tobacco product is prohibited on all University property, with the exception of use of traditional and sacred medicines that are part of Indigenous cultural and spiritual practices in accordance with applicable procedures.

The University’s expectation is that members of the campus community will be respectful of property outside of its grounds and will properly dispose of their smoking waste products.

The policy is intended to support the health and well-being of all members of the University community. It recognizes the health hazards associated with smoking, exposure to second-hand smoke and the use of tobacco products.
