Hundreds turn out to learn about opportunities to get involved

Good weather and an easing of pandemic restrictions combined to attract a terrific crowd to Involvement Fair, Tuesday in the David Wilson Commons.

“We had a really good turnout,” says organizer Amber Norman, student development specialist in the Student Success and Leadership Centre. “I think students are craving opportunities to make connections with one another.”

The event is a showcase for campus organizations and student clubs to highlight what they have to offer.

Sophia Boucas, a first-year kinesiology major, participated in student government during her secondary school career at Walkerville Collegiate Institute.

“I really enjoyed being involved in school and I’m hoping to find some activities here,” she said.

Renee Thompson, a new resident of Cartier Hall, was excited to see the breadth of choices at the University.

“I’d like to join a few clubs,” she said as she paused for a free barbecue lunch. “I like sports, too, but I want to be sure I leave enough time for my studies.”

UWindsor Welcome Week continues today with academic program orientation sessions, followed by the Welcoming Celebration at 3 p.m. in the Toldo Lancer Centre. Find a full list of activities on the Welcome week website.
