Radio station seeking faculty rep for board

CJAM 99.1 FM, the University of Windsor campus-community radio station, is in search of a member of the UWindsor faculty to volunteer for its board of directors.

The station will celebrate 34 years on the FM dial this November, although it has been around for far longer than that in different forms, including on an AM signal and closed circuit in campus dormitories.

Its 150+ volunteers span a variety of age ranges and abilities. It is a learning ground for anyone interested in the art of radio and audio producing, and hosts about 50 programs.

The UWindsor faculty board member is an appointed position chosen by the board of directors. Board terms are two years, with the possibility of re-application. Members meet four or five times a year via Zoom, are expected to participate in CJAM’s general meetings, and receive email updates regarding station business from the station manager about once per month.

The board makes important decisions on finances, fundraising, hiring, and other station business. CJAM currently has three paid employees: two full-time and one part-time.

To indicate interest in volunteering for its board, fill out the online form.

Send questions or suggestions for individuals to take on this position to station manager Carley Schweitzer at statcjam@gmail.com or board president Sarika Sharma at sharma5c@uwindsor.ca.
