Overtime loss ends playoff run for women’s soccer

A 2-1 loss to Guelph in the opening round of the playoffs Wednesday brought the Lancer women’s soccer season to a close. All the scoring took place in overtime after Windsor goaltender Lauren Gellner shut out the host Gryphons through regulation. Football will begin its post-season quest for glory on Saturday, Oct. 29, heading to Ottawa to meet the Gee Gees in an Ontario University Athletics quarter-final. Game time is 1 p.m. Catch all the action on OUA.tv.

Cross country runners will compete in the OUA championship meet Saturday in London.

At home this weekend, men’s hockey will face off against the Toronto Varsity Blues for a pair of games at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex — Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. Get tickets at goLancers.ca/tickets.

Men’s volleyball will host pre-season exhibition contests against Lewis University at 7 p.m. Friday and against the Western Mustangs at 4 p.m. Saturday, both matches at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

Wrapping up the varsity action, women’s hockey will be in Nipissing on Friday to take on the Lakers, then heads to the Big Smoke on Saturday to take on Toronto Metropolitan University.
