Nihar Biswas’s dedication to the University of Windsor extends well beyond the classroom walls. When Dr. Biswas isn’t lecturing on water quality and waste management, the civil engineering professor is helping attract top student athletes to UWindsor.
“While many of our students and staff may recognize Nihar as a frequent visitor to the St. Denis Centre and a regular exerciser on our track, what many probably don’t know is all the work he is doing behind the scenes to help our Lancer teams,” athletic director Mike Havey said April 6 at the Lancer Evening of Excellence.

Richard Peddie took up his new appointment as leader-in-residence at the Odette School of Business with a morning address to a packed auditorium Wednesday.
Peddie – a UWindsor grad (BComm 1970, honorary LLD 2001) and recently-retired president of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment – spoke to his vision of producing business leaders of the future. He peppered his talk with stories from his career spanning three decades of senior executive roles in some of Canada’s most prominent organizations.
His experience as president of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment has given UWindsor alumnus Richard Peddie (BComm 1970, honorary LLD 2001) great insight into entrepreneurialism, leadership and innovation.
A new initiative of the Odette School of Business will extend the influence of the recently retired executive.
Four UWindsor graduates will be inducted into the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame this Sunday, October 2—Lancer athletes Jodi Beaugrand, Andy Buckstein and Jennifer (Graham) Schutz, and builder Richard Peddie. Sports broadcaster Joe Bowen will receive an award recognizing achievement outside the University.
