Vincent Georgie will begin a two-year appointment as acting associate vice-president external of the University of Windsor, effective Nov. 1.
Gemma Grey-Hall has accepted an appointment as acting director, advancement, effective Aug. 10.
UWindsor president Alan Wildeman announced a restructuring plan yesterday for the University Advancement division intended to more clearly align the activities and services Advancement provides with the University’s overarching goals.
These include a commitment to greater communication and engagement with its key community partners, a closer alignment of fundraising within the faculties, and the need to see its financial and human resources aligned most effectively.
A video message sent to UWindsor donors Thursday gives students a chance to express their gratitude, says Jody Maskery, director of advancement services.
“We just wanted to send a thank-you note to all the people who have supported the University’s students and programs through the year,” Maskery says. “We hope to show the appreciation of the prime beneficiaries of their generosity—our students who have been given the opportunity to succeed.”
It’s not too late to make a gift that will help University of Windsor students—and receive a 2012 charitable tax receipt.
“In the spirit of the holiday season, we take a moment to count our blessings and express our thanks,” says development officer Mona Dosen of University Advancement. “One way we can give back is to support our students, helping to secure their success as they learn and grow in 2013.”
India’s consul general to Toronto, Preeti Saran, is the guest of honour at the annual dinner of the India Canada Association of Windsor-Essex County, this year supporting a research project at the University of Windsor.
The event will benefit biochemistry professor Siyaram Pandey’s Kevin Couvillon cancer research project. Organizers promise a fun-filled evening with fine Indian food, dances and a performance by Bollywood Bounces.

“The campaign most certainly has a clear and positive impact on the work we do, in the lives of our students, and the University of Windsor community as whole,” the nursing professor told colleagues gathered Wednesday on the lawn outside Memorial Hall.
A lunch reception launched the 2012 campaign, which invites support from University employees for student scholarships, campus improvements, teaching and research programs.
