Students invited to help with Winter Fest

A student group has signed on to recruit volunteers to help with Winter Fest in downtown Windsor on Saturday, December 15.

Volunteer International Students Assistance is seeking volunteers to help with setting up, marshalling the Santa Claus parade, and cleaning up afterward.

“This would be a great opportunity if you are looking to be a part of an exciting community event while earning volunteer hours and developing work experience,” says Abdulqader Alsobaihi, the club’s coordinator.

Samosa sale supports activities of student social group

Samosas proved popular with students and staff and sold out very quickly, say the organizers of a sale in the CAW Student Centre Commons on Thursday.

Volunteer International Students Assistance (VISA) sold the delicious vegetable pastries with a tamarind sauce garnish to raise money for its social activities.

“We wanted to do something open on campus to promote the group to all students,” says Kathyani Parasram, the organization’s events coordinator. “We felt it would be great to do so by selling food that everybody would enjoy.”

Student centre to screen subcontinental showdown

Volunteer International Students Assistance invites all interested to watch one of the world’s most heated sports rivalries, as India will face Pakistan in cricket’s Asia Cup on Sunday, March 18.

The live broadcast of the game will be screened in the CAW Student Centre Commons, starting at 4:30 a.m.

“These teams have the most intense rivalry in the world,” says coordinator Mahek Ajmera. “Come out and have fun!”
